Job Description:

Responsible for the design, implementation and support of  UMTS networks.  Duties entail testing, integration and support of 3G network rollout. Provide second line global support of existing Ericsson GSM and UMTS networks.

Provide expertise on UMTS technology by mentoring market engineers and field tech; developing and implementing RNC design guide lines and developing UMTS link budget analysis. As a 3G UMTS RF Systems engineer, one will manage a design team with responsibility for the core network design and planning.  In this role, one will provide technical leadership and design responsibility for the IP/ATM and signaling design and all core network nodes (MSC/VLR, GGSN, SGSN, MGW and RNC) and the subscriber and network services offered across them. One will be liaison to our client’s RAN/Core design and management teams , lead technical meetings to present design plans and resolve issues.

Provide expertise on network traffic dimensioning all Core and UTRAN nodes (RNC, media gateway, MSC, SGSN, GGSN and support nodes such as HLR’s) and products. Provide  assistance  for Node B rollout planning with particular emphasis on subscriber traffic (service) profiling (parameter setting), Node B to RNC (Iub) allocation and siting, RNC planning and design (Iur strategy), and CS & PS handover traffic planning and optimization.

Requirements:       

• Bachelor degree in engineering; advanced degree preferred
• 5+  years of GSM/ 3G UMTS systems engineering experience with emphasis on design and optimization of  Ericsson / Lucent based GSM/UMTS networks and RNC design and implementation guidelines and BSS operations, maintenance and support.
• Must be a subject matter expert with excellent understanding of WCDMA(RNC) technology including Air Interface messaging, Protocol flow, RNC air interface dimensioning.
• Experience in pre-sale support to site acquisition, survey, installation, commissioning, integration, troubleshooting until post sale maintenance.
• Excellent communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
• Experience with either Siemens, Ericsson or Lucent UMTS networks.
• Interoperability testing.
• Testing Node B, RNC and Core against layers 1-3/end to end interfaces.
• Call processing, integration and verification on UMTS Network.
• Willingness to travel extensively
